Star Academy is Star Studio's first original reality competition series, following six trainees over the course of a single, high-pressure summer as they compete for a guaranteed debut slot with the label. Filmed in a converted warehouse in western Seoul, the show strips away the polish of conventional idol competition formats in favor of a more documentary-style approach.
Each episode is built around a single creative challenge — writing, recording, performing, directing — judged not by celebrity panels but by working artists, producers and engineers from the Star Studio roster. The result is a series that is unusually candid about the work itself: the long hours, the difficult conversations, the small breakthroughs that don't make it onto most competition shows.
Star Academy premiered in spring 2025 to strong ratings and a particularly engaged online community. A second season has already been greenlit for 2026.
